Why a macOS installer download may fail?
A macOS installer download may fail if the Mac is not compatible with that version, the App Store link is unavailable in your region, Apple no longer offers that exact build, the installer is damaged, the Mac lacks storage space, or Terminal returns "update not found."
Try Safari for Apple web links, check compatibility first, delete damaged installers, and use Software Update or Recovery when you only need to update or reinstall the current Mac.
