Mac shuts off frequently file system check exit code is 8

Now and then, my computer randomly shuts off. After the progress bar is fully loaded, my computer shuts down. Entering Single User Mode and inputting the following command—/sbin/mount -uw / exit—let me get back into my machine. When I used the disk utility to run First Aid, I got the error message "Invalid node structure. Catalog file entry not found for extent. The volume could not be verified completely. The file system check exit code is 8. Operation successful." What tips do you have for fixing my computer? I'm not sure if the hard disk, OS X, or battery are to blame for this. Fortunately, I was able to access my computer again and save everything, but I'm not sure what the main problems are.

According to the messages returned by First Aid, it seems that the file system is corrupted, and First Aid failed to repair the disk error. Such a hard drive failure could lead to Mac keeps shutting down.

Therefore, if you fix the drive issue file system check exit code is 8, it may solve the problem Mac keeps shutting down, you can run First Aid multiple times in macOS Recovery mode and use the FSCK command in Single User Mode.

Perhaps, the Mac still shuts down randomly, then, you can try the following solutions:

  • Make sure your Mac is powered up properly to work correctly
  • perform a complete shutdown
  • Restart Mac in Safe Mode
  • Reset SMC and NVRAM
  • Reinstall macOS
  • Uninstall the recently installed app
