How to Get the Original File Back after Modifying and Saving It with Another One?

How can I recover the original file (with the original data) after it is saved with modified data using the same name? I now have 4 files with the same name, but none are the original. Can this be done using Time Machine or other methods? How?

Hello, don't worry, you can find the original ones whether you enabled the cloud storage on your Mac.

( 1 )You don't have any cloud storage. It is sad you didn't have any backups, and you are suggested to apply some powerful apps to recover and find all your files like iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac.

  1. Free download, install, and launch iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac.
  2. Select the drive/volume where you stored the original files on the left menu and click Search for Lost Data.
  3. Preview and select your wanted files after scanning then click Recover to save them to another place.

( 2 )You have cloud storage backups.

For iCloud:

  1. Open iCloud.com, scroll down, and click the Data Recovery.
  2. Select Restore Files then select the files and choose Restore.

For Time Machine:

  1. Launchpad > Others > Time Machine.
  2. Look through the timeline and find what you wanted, click Restore.

Hope you can find them, best wishes.
