How To Fix Greyed-Out Files In An NTFS-Mounted HDD On Mac?

I have an MacBook Pro running macOS Ventura and I have a 500GB external HDD with 2 partitions (NTFS & FAT32), which i mounted to my MacBook Pro using FSTAB Some of the files in the NTFS partition are greyed-out, and I cant copy/open them on my MacBook Pro. I realized the files that are greyed out are those that I copied from my MacBook Pro to the NTFS drive. Existing files in the drive can be opened. any idea what can be done?

Hi there, although feeling sorry about the trouble you meet, I have to say that it is quite normal since NTFS is proprietary to Microsoft Windows which offers no support to macOS devices. Based on the trouble on your MBP, you're recommended to run this command lint on your Mac.

for f in *.*; do xattr -d com.apple.FinderInfo "$f"; done

Hope it can address the grered-out files and allows you read&write an NTFS-formatted hard drive on your Mac seamlessly.

Moreover, you can use iBoysoft NTFS for Mac to gain full read& write support to the NTFS hard drive on your Mac. iBoysoft NTFS for Mac mounts your NTFS drive in read&write mode automatically and solves the grayed-out files with ease. You will then read and write to your NTFS formatted drive with no barrier on macOS devices.
