How To Fix An External Hard Drive That Not Compatible With macOS 10.7.5?

I now have 2 external hard drives: WD Easystore 2TB and Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB. A support person from Seagate told me their product is not compatible with macOS 10.7.5. I researched this community and found the WD Easystore product is not compatible with macOS Lion in fact. I am unable to format the WD hard drive. Please help.

Hi there, Apple File System (APFS) supports macOS 10.13 or later, and Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or HFS+ supports macOS 10.12 or earlier. If you want to use the WD hard drive on macOS Lion 10.7.5, you have to format it to Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Just go to Disk Utility > select the hard drive (not a single volume) > click Format in the main window > give your hard drive a name > select Mac OS Extended as its file system > wait for the format to end. Then you can use the WD hard drive on macOS Lion 10.7.5 successfully!
