How to uninstall VirtualBox from my MacBook Pro 2018 completely?

hi there, I downloaded VirtualBox on my MacBook Pro 2018 several months ago for simulating a Windows work environment to write to my NTFS hard drive. Several months later, I did not need to write to the NTFS hard drive any longer, so I removed it from my Mac. However, this program was so tough that it always has hidden residues or install helper left on my Mac, I can’t uninstall it completely from my computer at all! Can anyone tell me how I can uninstall this app from my Mac completely with no residues or install helper left on my Mac? Any guidance or third-party cleaner is welcomed! Thanks!

Oracle VM VirtualBox is a wonderful program that arms you with a feature to run the Windows operating system on a Mac or vice versa. While VirtualBox itself is very lean (a typical installation will only need about 30 MB of hard disk space), the virtual machines will require fairly huge files on disk to represent their hard disk storage. So, to install Windows 8, for example, you will need a file that will easily grow to several 10 GB in size on your Mac machine.

Once you find this program useless, you’re recommended to uninstall it from your Mac to free up more available Macintosh HD space for faster running speed and more incomparable performance!

On top of that, uninstalling VirtualBox from your Mac reduces the chance of software conflicts. VirtualBox might conflict with other applications or system operations, leading to instability or crashes. If you’re experiencing system issues and suspect VirtualBox is the final culprit, uninstalling it could resolve these conflicts.

For the sake of safety and security, it’s beneficial to remove any third-party software from your Mac or it might pose security risk if not regularly updated. Finally, if you’re streamlining your software setup or moving to a different virtualization solution, uninstalling VirtualBox can help simplify your system’s configuration.

Since you’ve mentioned the muanl uninstall cannot remove VirtualBox and its associated files from your Mac completely, here I would give iBoysoft MagicMenu a recommend. It gathers all associated files of the unwanted app and allows you to take away them along with the app uninstall in one go! With it, it’s impossible to have any leftovers or residues of the unwanted app stayed on your Mac machine anymore!

Here is how to uninstall VirtualBox on your MacBook Pro 2018 with iBoysoft MagicMenu:

Step 1: Download and install iBoysoft MagicMenu on your Mac.

Step 2: Launch this handy app uninstaller and search the Uninstall extension in its main window to have a download. Note that iBoysoft MagicMenu only takes a little space and so does the Uninstall function, which won’t influence the Mac performance and running speed.

Step 3: Go to Finder > Applications, locate Oracle VirtualBox, then right-click it to select Uninstall from the dropdown menu.

Step 4: Wait for this professional app remover to gather all associated files of the will-be-uninstalled app. Once it finishes, check the useless files to let them be removed along with the app.

Step 5: Click Uninstall to confirm your actions and initiate the uninstall progress. This progress may take up to several seconds.

You see that? You have completed the Oracle VirtualBox uninstall and associated file removal simultaneously with a few clicks, which is much simpler and easier than the native-built installer on Mac!

Try this software to completely remove VirtualBox from Mac right at this moment!

Simply dragging the VirtualBox to the Mac Trash cannot remove it from your Mac hard drive completely, because every app has install package, launch helper, preferences, root files, scripts used to run the software, junk, system data, etc. stored on the hard drive. You have to clean all these related files also then it can be named as a complete uninstall.

Here I’ll show you how to completely remove Oracle VirtualBox from your Mac with the steps:

Step 1: Quit VirtualBox

To quit the program, click the VirtualBox icon in the Dock and select Quit from the contextual menu.

If VirtualBox is not responding, open Activity Monitor from your Applications > Utilities folder. Search for VirtualBox in the list of processes, select it, and click the [X] button at the top of the window to close VirtualBox.

Step 2: Delete VirtualBox from the Applications folder

  1. To uninstall VirtualBox from your Mac, follow these steps:

  2. Open a new Finder window.

  3. Navigate to the Applications folder, or select Go > Applications from the Finder’s top menu.

  4. Scroll through the list to locate the VirtualBox app.

  5. Drag VirtualBox to the Trash in your Dock. Alternatively, right-click (or Control-click) on VirtualBox and choose Move to Trash from the dropdown menu.

  6. Right-click on the Trash and select Empty Trash to ensure the application is completely removed.

Step 3: Delete VirtualBox leftovers

  1. After you uninstall Virtualbox, the next crucial step is eliminating any remaining files and leftovers to ensure a complete cleanup. Follow these steps:

  2. Open Finder on your Mac.

  3. In the Finder menu at the top of the screen, click the Go menu and then Go to Folder… or use the shortcut Shift + Command (⌘) + G to access it.

  4. One by one, enter the following paths into the search box to locate and remove VirtualBox’s associated files:

~/Library/Application Support/VirtualBox/
~/Library/Preferences/org.virtualbox.app.VirtualBox.plist
~/Library/Caches/org.virtualbox.app.VirtualBox/
  1. After moving all related files and folders to the Trash, empty it to permanently delete them.
