How To Fix Failing To Mount Volume For Snapshot Purging?

Hi, I need help from you guys. I am trying to update my MacBook from macOS Mojave to macOS Catalina but I get this error, stating "'Failed to mount volume for APFS snapshot purging, Quit the Installer to restart your computer and try again". I have enabled Time Machine to back up my device to a portable HDD. I have deleted the update file and redownloaded it several times, but nothing changed. What should I do?

Hi there, when you update to macOS Mojave via the App Store, the file system of the internal hard drive should be formatted APFS. Whereas an external macOS Catalina package has no such function. In order to fix the error, you're suggested to erase your Mac, install macOS Mojave, and then update to macOS Catalina via the App Store.
