Here, Ventura is being used. Creating a text file inside of a folder would be wonderful (without needing to process the application). I had something once, but it’s not working on Ventura anymore. Does anybody have a method for doing that? I’m grateful.
There are four ways to create a text file on Mac, among them, only using the third-party right-click enhancer such as iBoysoft MagicMenu can meet your needs of creating a txt file in a folder without launching TextEditor and other apps.
This right-click tool adds powerful options such as creating a new file to the Finder context menu so that you can right-click Mac and directly choose New File from the menu, it supports most common file types including the txt. It doesn’t need to open any apps to create the new file within the folder.(Free download iBoysoft MagicMenu)
The default Finder’s context menu only enables you to create new folders, and there is no “New File” option, so you can’t directly create a new file by right-clicking. If you want to create a text file within a folder without launching the TextEdit app, the best way is to use a third-party Mac right-click enhancer, which can add more useful options to the Finder context menu including the “New File.”
Besides, you can also create a text file with Terminal if you are familiar with commands. What’s more, you can create a quick action such as creating a new text file in Automator, then you can select to create a new text file from the Services section of the Finder’s context menu.
Thanks for your answer. I don’t want to launch any app, and I find the right-click enhancer recommended by Sherry is really helpful, I just need to right-click and choose New File to create a file anywhere on Mac, it supports a lot of common file types.
This is actually what I need, so wonderful tool! ![]()
