Mac Magic Mouse Right-click Stops Working

Hi, I’m experiencing an issue with my Magic Mouse where the right-click stopped working two days ago.

I checked the Mouse Settings, and the secondary click is set to “Right.” However, when I switch it to “Left,” the right-click function works perfectly with the left click.

But when I switch it back to “Right,” it doesn’t respond. I also tried unchecking the secondary click option, as suggested on another support site, but that didn’t help either.

I’ve removed the batteries from the mouse, turned it off, disabled Bluetooth, and restarted my laptop, but I’m still confused. Please help!

If your Magic Mouse right-click isn’t working on Mac, here are some solutions to try:

  1. Reset the Bluetooth: Turn off Bluetooth and then turn it back on. Or disconnect and reconnect your Magic Mouse in the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Restart your Mac.
  3. Reset NVRAM/PRAM.
  4. Check for macOS updates.

If none of these solutions work, it might be worth checking if there’s a hardware issue with the mouse itself.

I encountered this issue before. I went to Apple menu > System Settings, selected Mouse, and disabled “Secondary click.” After restarting the system, I returned to the same settings and re-enabled “Secondary Click.” That solved the problem and good luck to you.

Hello, you can try:

Check the right-click settings
Restart Mac
Change the way to invoke the right-click menu on Mac
Reset SMC
Update Mac
