I used Automator to create a new text file using this code: tell the application “Finder” to make a new file (the target of the front window) as an alias. It then created an app that I can insert onto my window toolbar. A new .txt file was produced in the folder when I clicked on it. However, I found that the .txt file couldn’t be opened. I always have to convert the files, and I also want to use Automator to create a new RTF or RTFD file. Can anyone tell me how to do that?
It’s the same with my experience! My friend shared a right-click enhancer with me. I think it useful for you. It’s a tool that helps add shortcuts and options to the right-click menu.
When you right-click on the blank area on your desktop or the Finder window, you can create a .tx file on your Mac (or any other type of file you want, including the RTF or RTFD file).
This tool is called iBoysoft MagicMenu. Here is how I use it to right-click to create a blank .txt file on my Mac.
- Download iBoysoft MagicMenu and install and open it.
- Right-click the blank area on the desktop or in Finder.
- Select New File > TXT, RTF, or any other file type you want.
It offers over twenty types of files on the menu.
If you want to right-click any other type of file, like RTFD, you can add it to your right-click menu first. Simply open the tool, select New File, and click the add button (+) to add any file you want.
I think it is easy to create a new .txt file; simply create a template .txt file and save it to your desktop. When you need a .txt file, open the template .txt file and click File on the menu bar and then select New.
