How to hide the extension of applications on Mac?

I discovered that I had inadvertently applied the.app extension to every one of my applications a few months back when working on my PC. The programs will stop working if I attempt to delete it. This plugin is a little frustrating because it is not shown on my other Mac computers. Is it possible to exclude the.app from all of my apps?

By changing the system settings on Mac, you can easily hide the extensions of the applications on Mac.

Directly deleting the items' extensions on Mac could make them unusable, the file/folder/app extensions tell what type of item it is. You can display or hide the file extension on Mac by editing the system settings, here's how:

  1. Open Finder and click Finder on the menu bar.
  2. Choose Settings…
  3. Select the Advanced tab, then uncheck Show all filename extensions.
  4. Close the Finder settings window.
