Why My New MacBook Can't Read SD Card?

I recently purchased a 2021 M1 MacBook Pro running macOS Ventura with 16GB of RAM.
As someone new to the Mac ecosystem, I’m encountering an issue where the computer fails to detect or recognize any SD card I insert. This happens regardless of whether I use an adapter, an external card reader, or a high-end docking station.
Does anyone have suggestions or solutions for this problem?

Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue with your SD card not readable on Mac:

  1. Adjust Finder Settings: Finder > Settings > Tick External disks. Then choose Sidebar > Tick External disks under Devices.
  2. Check another drive to test.
  3. Run First Aid in Disk Utility to repair the SD card.

Maybe resetting SMC and NVRAM can work out. If not, you can format the SD card in Disk Utility.
