Why Does My Right-click not Show Context Menu on Mac?

A few days ago, I found my right-click on a file did not provide a menu. For example, for deleting, I can drag the file to Trash but I can’t select the Move to Trash in the menu.(The menu is missing)
Can you give me some suggestions?

Here are a few things you can try to fix the issue where right-clicking on a file doesn’t show the menu on your Mac:

  1. Check mouse settings: Go to System Settings > Mouse and make sure that “Secondary click” is enabled. If you’re using a trackpad, go to System Settings > Trackpad and check that the secondary click is set up.

  2. Restart Finder: Sometimes, Finder can get a bit buggy. You can restart it by pressing Command + Option + Esc, selecting Finder from the list, and clicking “Relaunch.”

  3. Reset NVRAM/PRAM: Resetting your Mac’s NVRAM/PRAM can help with weird glitches. To do this, shut down your Mac, then turn it on and immediately press and hold Option + Command + P + R for about 20 seconds.

Let me know if any of these help!

Sorry to hear about your case, no right-click menu on Mac is so inconvenient for our usage. Maybe you can try:

Clear Finder preferences: Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist and move this file to your desktop (don’t delete it right away). Then, restart Finder or reboot your Mac. If this solves the issue, you can delete the plist file.

Reset SMC: Resetting the SMC can sometimes resolve strange issues. The method to do this varies depending on your Mac model. For most Macs, you can shut down your Mac, unplug it from power, wait for 15 seconds, and then plug it back in and restart.

Good luck.

Sometimes, checking for macOS updates or repairing your disks in Disk Utility can help you.
Or have you tried to right-click on your desktop or other places not only on the files?
If other places the context menu is missing, there may be something wrong with your right-click. You can read Right-click not working on Mac.

Thank you, these ways are so helpful~
