When I delete an application, some files or data may remain in the system and are not completely removed. While these residual files may not necessarily affect the system’s performance, over time they can accumulate and take up storage space or, in some cases, cause software conflicts. Therefore, which app can thoroughly remove applications?
You can uninstall an app by dragging it to the Trash, but this cannot completely remove associated files. So, eliminating leftover files is necessary after dragging the app to the Trash.
Open Finder, press Cmd + Shift + G, and go to these paths to delete related files: ~/Library/Application Support/, ~/Library/Preferences/, ~/Library/Caches/
After deleting the app and files, empty the Trash and restart your Mac to apply the changes.

Moving unwanted applications directly to the Trash does not completely uninstall them, as this only removes the main application files while leaving behind related data and configuration files in the system. Here, I recommend using CleanMyApp, a professional uninstall software. Open it, locate the software you want to uninstall and click “Uninstall.” It will thoroughly remove the application and clean up associated files.
Here are the steps to use CleanMyApp:
- Free download, install, and open CleanMyApp.
- Choose the software you want to uninstall and click Uninstall.
- Click Continue Uninstall to confirm the process.
- Your software will be uninstalled in a few seconds.
- Click Finish to complete.
