There Is Something Wrong with My Macs Fan Control

I’ve been using Macs Fan Control for a few years now, and I recently noticed something unusual with my device. In the fan control settings, the maximum speed for my right fan is 8208 rpm, while the left fan tops out at 7600 rpm.
During some intensive tasks, my CPU hit 104°C, so I checked the fan speeds to decide whether I should switch to Full Blast mode. To my surprise, the right fan was running at 8208 rpm, but the left fan was at 7950 rpm and still increasing. When I set it to Full Blast, I distinctly heard the rpm decrease. I’m wondering if this is an issue with my device if Macs Fan Control needs an update, or if there’s some kind of hidden hyperboost mode for the fans that I’m unaware of.

If you don’t know whether the problem still remains, you’d better try running Apple Diagnostics to check if any hardware issues, particularly with the cooling system, are detected. The diagnostics are generally reliable in identifying such problems.

While I have used Macs Fan Control to monitor system temperatures and fan speeds, I haven’t used it to adjust them, as macOS typically handles fan control well on its own. I’ve also noticed that the maximum fan speed values shown aren’t always accurate.

If your system is overheating, it’s often due to third-party software, like antivirus programs, cleaning or optimizer apps, or third-party security tools.

(1) Maybe the software is not supported for your macOS, you can check the Macs Fan Control update and macOS update.

(2) Reset SMC(System Management Controller)

(3) Check OpenCore Legacy Patcher Settings.
If you’re using OpenCore Legacy Patcher, ensure that the fan control is properly configured for your hardware. Check the compatibility settings in OpenCore or try updating to a more recent version, as older builds may not handle fan controls as efficiently.

(4) Since your right fan is reaching 8208 rpm, but the left fan goes higher than its typical max speed, manually setting the fans to Full Blast in Macs Fan Control might prevent overheating or excessive wear.

How about uninstalling and reinstalling Macs Fan Control? Sometimes, a fresh installation fixes bugs and glitches.

Or you can also try another fan control app to see if the same issue occurs, which would help identify if it’s software-related.
