SD Card not recognized on MacBook Pro 2019

Hello everyone, I have two MacBook Pros, one from 2012 and the other from 2019. Recently, I purchased a 128GB SanDisk SD card. The card works fine on my older MacBook, but it cannot be recognized on the 2019 MacBook Pro. What could be the reason for this? Can anyone help me?

Have you checked the connection of your SD card? It’s recommended to clean the metal contacts of the SD card and the SD card slot on your 2019 MacBook Pro with a lint-free cloth to ensure no dust or dirt is affecting the connection. You can also try inserting other SD cards into the 2019 MacBook Pro to rule out any issues with the card slot.

If the SD card is recognized on the older Mac but not usable on the newer one, it could be due to a file system compatibility issue. You can try reformatting the SD card on the older Mac and then testing it on the 2019 MacBook Pro.

  1. Open Disk Utility.
  2. Select the SD card and click Erase.
  3. Choose exFAT as the format (compatible with both macOS and Windows).
