Is anyone else experiencing frequent freezing or lag after updating to the latest macOS?
I’m using a 2024 MacBook Pro with an Apple Studio Display, and the system keeps freezing for 10–15 seconds before catching up. It happens especially during media playback—Apple Music or videos will freeze, repeat the last few seconds of audio, then suddenly resume as if nothing happened.
This is the first time I’ve had major stability issues after a macOS release. I hoped the .0.1 update would fix it, but the problem remains.
Even writing this post has been interrupted by several freezes. With 48GB of RAM, I don’t think this is a memory issue. I’ve had to switch to my iPad Pro for work because the Mac has become too unreliable.
Has anyone experienced the same issue or found a fix?
I had something very similar happen, and in my case it turned out to be related to external display and graphics processes rather than the RAM.
Since you’re using an Apple Studio Display, you can try disconnecting it for a while and running only on the built-in display. If the freezes disappear, you may have narrowed it down.
A few other things worth checking to accelerate your MBP:
Clean up junk files. You can use a professional Mac cleaning tool like the popular iBoysoft Cleaner to clean up your Mac regularly to keep your Mac’s best performance.
Disable unnecessary login items. Go to System Settings > Login Items, remove the unnecessary ones, and also turn off unknown background items.
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data and look for files starting with panic-full. Those usually indicate a kernel panic and can point to the cause.
Disconnect all external devices (hubs, monitors, drives, etc.) and test for a while.
Boot into Safe Mode and see if the crashes continue. If they stop, a third-party extension, driver, or background utility may be responsible.
