Hi there, I have moved this app to Mac Trash, but it seems not to work very well since it always leaves leftovers and provision profiles on my Mac hard drive, which is super annoying and frustrating! I wonder if there is an ultimate way for me to uninstall Steam from my Mac, especially its related files like packages, caches, launch helpers, user files, system logs, etc. Third-party software is accepted also! Thanks in advance!
The app installed on your machine always leaves some root files or support packages on the hard drive so that you can install it next time you want. However, this way is troublesome, especially when you want to completely remove the app and its associated files from your workstation. Facing this, I’d like to recommend a professional uninstaller that I have run on my Mac for a long time, that is, iBoysoft MagicMenu, which removes all along with its all related files with ease!
Step 1: Download and install iBoysoft MagicMenu on your Mac.
Step 2: Launch this handy app uninstaller and search the Uninstall extension in its main window to have a download. Note that iBoysoft MagicMenu only takes a little space and so does the Uninstall function, which nearly does not influence your Mac.
Step 3: Go to Finder > Applications, locate the app you don’t need, then right-click it to select Uninstall from the dropdown menu.
Step 4: Wait for this professional app remover to gather all associated files of the will-be-uninstalled app. Once it finishes, check the useless files to let them be removed along with the app.
Step 5: Click Uninstall to confirm your actions and initiate the uninstall progress. This progress may take up to several seconds.
Steam still has files remaining on your Mac due to its leftovers not being removed by your simple Move to Trash action. If you want to remove Steam and its files totally, you have to go to the following file directories and remove the files containing “Steam” in their names to the Mac Trash, then empty the trash:
~/Library/: for library files
-
~/Library/Caches/: for application caches
-
~/Library/Preferences/: to find your preference files
-
~/Library/Application Support/: for application support files
-
~/Library/Application Support/CrashReporter/: for all the old crash reports
-
~/Library/Saved Application State/: to find saved app states
