I have noticed that whether it’s the current macOS Sequoia or earlier versions, moving an application to the Trash does not completely uninstall the application, and some residual files remain in /Users/User account name/Library/Application Support.
What is the reason for this, and how can I completely uninstall an application?
The default uninstallation method in macOS only moves the main application file to the Trash and does not delete configuration files, cache files, or other residual data associated with the application. These files are typically stored in the system’s “Library” folder, and you can manually search for and delete the related files.
If you move the application to the Trash, the related configuration files need to be manually deleted, which can be time-consuming and tedious. So, an App uninstaller is the best choice in case you hope to uninstall an application on Mac quickly.
I once used CleanMyApp, a professional uninstallation software that can help you completely uninstall the App, including residual files. You only need to download it, find the application you want to uninstall, and click “Uninstall” to remove it.
