I am trying to to get some help recovering data from somebody whose Apple Mac OS X hard drive have crashed, I am told the hard drive has crashed and the cannot access it, is this answer right? If I want to perform data recovery, how many data recovery options are there that I can perform?
For the first question, it depends how ‘crashed’ your Mac is. For the slight crash of Mac, it’s still possible to recover files from it. But if the Mac device is badly crashed, I guess there is no way to recover files from it anymore!
There are four ways to perform data recovery: recovering files from Mac Trash, recovering files from the Time Machine backup, recovering files via professional data recovery software, and asking help from experts. If you have no knowledge of data recovery, run data recovery software and ask help from the expert are recommended.
Now that your hard drive has crashed, it’s out of your capability to complete the data recovery by yourself, unless you get a full backup hard drive at hand or you enabled cloud sync or storage to save your files previously. If you have no backup or cloud storage of data, it’s recommended to call for professional help or rely on a professional data recovery utility to complete the whole task. Some data recovery software is able to recover lost files from a crashed Mac and you can give it a try.
Have you backed up your Mac with Time Machine or other cloud storage toolkit? If yes, you can recover files from them with ease. If you don’t have a habit of backup, there is no way to recover then only if you use a professional assistant or take your Mac to a local data recovery center.
