Help! Persistent Issue: Reboot because of a problem with my Mac

Recently, my Mac has been experiencing a recurring problem. I’ve noticed that my Mac automatically restarts overnight, and every morning when I wake up and log in, I receive a message saying, “Your computer was restarted because of a problem.” This is quite frustrating because I often have unsaved work. I’ve tried some troubleshooting methods on my own, but the issue hasn’t been resolved. Can anyone help me fix this problem? I really appreciate your assistance. Thank you!

I’m not sure if you have tried to update your operating system before, but the first thing I recommend is to update your system to macOS Sequoia. This may or may not be relevant, but updating to the latest system will help you solve some potential problems.

Please run EtreCheck. EtreCheck can check your system status and help identify potential issues. You can download EtreCheck from the official website and open it after downloading. Then click the Check button and the program will start scanning your system. After the scan, EtreCheck generates a report detailing the system status and possible issues. The generated report usually includes the following information to help you understand the system status and possible problems.

  1. Some applications may automatically run at startup, leading to a slow or unstable system. In this case, you should go to System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items and remove any unnecessary startup items.
  2. The installed drivers and extensions may be shown, and certain incompatible or outdated drivers could cause system issues. You can update all drivers and system extensions to ensure they are compatible with the current operating system.
  3. There may be problems with your WiFi or Ethernet connection, or the connection may be unstable. In this case, you should restart your router, check your network settings, or try using a wired Ethernet connection to rule out WiFi issues.
  4. If there are problems with CPU and memory usage , you need to check which applications are consuming resources using “Activity Monitor.” If necessary, end those processes or restart the applications.
