First Aid Error: Storage System Verify Or Repair Failed (-69716)

I can’t read and access my 1 TB SSD on my Mac. So I went to Disk Utility and ran First Aid to try to repair it. However, First Aid failed to repair it and gave me the error: Storage system verify or repair failed : (-69716). What does the error code -69716 mean?

Have you see the “File system check exit code is 8” error along with “Storage system verify or repair failed : (-69716)”? This exit code 8 is always along with “Storage system verify or repair failed : (-69716)”.

It shows that the file system of the SSD is seriously corrupted. To access the SSD, you have to reformat it.

Take care! Reformatting the SSD will erase all content on it. If you have stored precious data on it, you should use a data recovery tool like iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac (I have used this software before) to recover your data on the SSD.

  1. Simply download iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac, install, and open it.
  2. Select the SD card and click Search for Lost Data.
  3. After scanning, preview files, choose the wanted ones, and click Recover to save them to a different destination.
