This is my first time using a WD Elements hard drive on a Mac, which I’m also new to. The thing is, I can open the drive fine and check the files. But when I move a file from a folder on the Mac to it, the file bounces back. I have both read and write permissions for the hard drive and file. The hard drive works on a Windows laptop, so I don’t think it’s damaged. How can I move files properly?
Your WD Elements hard drive is formatted in NTFS. That’s the best possible reason why you can read the files on the drive but can’t move files to it.
This can be easily solved by using an NTFS for Mac driver. Download iBoysoft NTFS for Mac to enable read/write access to your WD external hard drive.
Once installed, you should be able to move files from your Mac to the external hard drive.
