How to recover files from an accidentally formatted memory card?

Hey guys, I have a GoPro Hero 4 Black, and I recorded an awesome time-lapse on it today. I thought I had copied the files off my card so I deleted them all through the actual GoPro using the format/delete all option. When I checked my MacBook the files weren't there, I realized my mistake immediately. I'm pretty sad right now. Is there any thing I can do to get my time-lapse back?

The easiest way to get your deleted time-lapse back is to use a professional data recovery application - iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac.

Do not put any new files on your freshly formatted micro SD card or take any photos or videos on your GoPro anymore, otherwise, it may cause data overwriting, and your time-lapse may never be retrieved.

Though you can't find your time-lapse on the memory card since it is formatted, the file is still somewhere on it. In this situation, you can use third-party data recovery software to recover your time-lapse. iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac is highly recommended by the way.

iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac is the best SD card recovery tool in the market. With it, you can easily recover your time-lapse, and other lost files from your formatted memory card. This software requires no expert knowledge but only a few clicks. Moreover, it supports APFS, HFS+, exFAT, and FAT 32 formatted drives.

You can follow these steps to perform Mac SD card data recovery using iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac:

  1. Download iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac, install it on your Mac computer by following the on-screen instructions and then run the program.
  2. Correctly connect the memory card that you want to recover your files from to your Mac computer. Use a card adapter or card reader if necessary.
  3. Locate and select your accidentally formatted memory card from the main interface of iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac, then click Search for Lost Data.
  4. This software will begin scanning your memory card. The scan process may take several minutes, wait patiently until the scan is finished for the optimum recovery outcome.
  5. After scanning the memory card, all found files will be listed. You can select your time-lapse, then click Preview to check if it is corrupted.
  6. If the time-lapse remains safe and sound, click Recover to retrieve it. Do not save it to the original memory card, instead, store it on either your Mac's hard drive or another storage device.

Also, if there are other files you want to recover beside the time-lapse, simply preview them and click Recover in iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac to get them back.
