Western Digital Easystore 1TB external drive not mounting on Mac: com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error 49218

I'm currently using a Western Digital Easystore 1TB external drive as a Time Machine backup disk. It's formatted with APFS on my MacBook Pro. This morning, it wouldn't mount and gave the error, "com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error 49218." Fortunately, it started to work after a reboot. But what concerns me is that First Aid failed to repair both the container disk and the Time Machine volume. Do I need to reformat the drive or return it?

It's recommended to reformat your WD easystore drive on Mac and set up Time Machine with it again.

I'm suggesting this because a reformat is usually the best way to resolve software problems like file system corruption that First Aid is unable to repair.

If your WD easystore drive no longer has mounting issues after being reformatted, the problem is solved. However, if the issue remains, it's probably failing and should be returned.
