There are two ways to get BitLocker on Windows 10:
- Spend $99 to upgrade the Home version to Pro on Microsoft's online shop.
- Use third-party software like M3 BitLocker Loader for Windows
Besides, you can check whether your computer is eligible for Windows Device Encryption. It's a feature-limited version of BitLocker, which also encrypts your whole system. Take the steps below:
- Type "system information" in the search box, right-click "System Information" from the list of results, then select "Run as administrator."
- Locate "Device Encryption Support" at the bottom of the System Information window.
If the value reads "Meets prerequisites," your laptop is likely already encrypted, as Device Encryption is automatically enabled when you log in with a personal Microsoft account that has administrative privileges. Regardless, you can verify and enable Device Encryption with the following steps:
- Sign in to Windows with an administrator account if you haven't yet.
- Click the Start button > Settings > Update & Security > Device encryption.
- Select Turn on.
