How to read and write to WD easystore external drive on Mac?

I purchased a WD easystore external drive that was said to plug and play. But it turns out that it defaults to the Windows NT File System. How can I gain read and write access to this drive on Mac?

If you want to read/write to a WD easystore external drive on Mac, there are two ways to do it.

Use an NTFS for Mac driver

If you don't want to go through the trouble of reformatting and backing up data, the best way to read/write to an NTFS drive on Mac is by using a tool like iBoysoft NTFS for Mac.

It will automatically mount your NTFS drives in read/write mode, allowing you to plug and play. What sets this tool apart from other products is that it also allows you to mount, unmount, and repair NTFS drives on Mac and format drives to NTFS.

Reformat the drive

If the easystore external drive doesn't contain important data, you can reformat it with a Mac-compatible file system. Check out the following guide for step-by-step instructions.
