Error: macOS can't repair the disk for a failed HDD on a MacBook Pro

The HDD on my wife's MacBook Pro has failed. In order to recover the photos on the drive, I took it out and connected it to my Mac externally. The drive is recognized on Mac. But when I tried to repair it in Disk Utility, First Aid failed and poped up the message saying "macOS can't repair the disk "untitled. You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can't save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can." When I open the files, they are empty. If I copy the files to another drive, the progress bar never changes. How can I restore the hundreds of photos on the drive? Any suggestion is appreciated!

The error "macOS can't repair the disk" indicates severe disk issues on the drive. To recover photos from such a corrupted drive, you'll need a reliable data recovery tool that's safe and reputable.

iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac is an excellent option. It supports recovering various types of photos, including JPEG, JPG, PNG, RAW, TIFF, CAD, RGB, PSD, etc., and other files like audio, videos, documents, and so on.

It supports data recovery on HDDs, SSDs, USB flash drives, SD cards, and other storage devices on Mac. You can use it on your Intel-based Macs or Macs with Apple silicon chips (M1/M2/M3).

Click the button below to download it and preview the recoverable photos for free.

After your data is recovered, you can reformat the drive on Mac for future use.
