Why Can I Only Right-click on Mouse on Mac?

My Magic Mouse can only right-click on my Mac mini. I turned the mouse off, deleted it from Bluetooth, and plugged in a USB mouse. However, the wired mouse can also only right-click on my Mac. Later, I tried to reset the PRAM but it won’t reset. I think the problem is that the PRAM won’t reset. Can anyone give me some hints? Please help.

Have you checked your mouse settings? Your mouse can only right-click on the Mac maybe not the Bluetooth or PRAM trouble but the your incorrect settings.

Click on the Apple icon > System Preferences (System Settings) > Mouse.
Next to “Secondary click,” ensure that you choose “Click Right Side.”

Moreover, have you tried to reboot your Mac to Safe Mode? Safe Mode will only load essential drivers for starting your Mac while isolating all third-party programs. If your mouse can left-click and right-click properly in Safe Mode, it means that some third-party software interferes with your Magic Mouse from left-clicking.

When you can only right-click while left-click is not working on your Mac, try to re-create the mouse .plist file.

  1. Open Finder, move to the top menu bar and select Go to Folder.
  2. Enter ~/Library/Preferences and press Return.
  3. Find and delete the following .plist files related to your mouse.
    com.apple.AppleMultitouchMouse.plist
    com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse.plist
    com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist
  4. Restart your Mac to let these deleted mouse-related .plist files be automatically recreated.
