What is SpeechSynthesisServer on Mac and What does it do?

What is SpeechSynthesisServer? After installing macOS Big Sur, I noticed a login item labeled SpeechSynthesisServer in System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items. I wonder what this process does on my Mac.

SpeechSynthesisServer is a user-level daemon that runs only when the user has enabled the speaking hotkey feature (Accessibility preference pane) or time announcements features (Date & Time preference pane). The daemon will continue running while either feature is enabled.

SpeechSynthesisServer is a process that allows the time to be heard on the hour and the function of voice input. If you don’t want it on your login items, you can disable the feature that activates it, namely the speaking hotkey and time announcements features.

Don’t worry about it. It’s just a user process. If you don’t use the features it presents, just disable it in login items.
