What are the best backup options for MacBook going forward?

Hi all, I used to use Network Attached Storage devices to back up my MacBook. The newer versions of macOS (since Sonoma) will no longer support Time Capsule disks for backups because they use Apple Filing Protocol (AFP). It seems that the NAS devices are not recommended.
And Apple doesn’t seem to recommend anything specific on Apple support.
So what are the best options for MacBook backup

NAS devices typically include Time Capsule emulation using SMB3 instead of the old Apple File Protocol AFP. Apple adopted SMB and now they are removing AFP.

Instead of explaining the complex principles and settings, I directly recommend the devices I’ve tested myself. I would recommend a Synology or QNAP NAS be something you consider purchasing in the near future. It’s a no brainer, all the hard work is done for you.

It’s useful for much more than just Time Machine. With a NAS, you can even build your own private cloud and access your files anytime, without relying on third-party cloud services.

The best approach is to follow the 3-2-1 backup strategy:

Keep three copies of your data, stored using (at least) two different backup methods, with at least one copy kept offsite.

For example, you could use Time Machine with a connected external drives. And use a disk clone software like iBoysoft DiskGeeker for Mac to make a full disk copy for migration or drive replacement.

Meanwhile, keep one backup copy stored offsite—such as at your workplace or a family member’s home.
