This is a question I posed a long time ago. I was able to get it working somehow. I’m having trouble accessing my NTFS drive on my Mac once more. It says “Kernel extension needs approval. To use Tuxera NTFS for Mac, you need to manually approve its kernel extension in System Preferences→Security & Privacy.” I really can’t seem to be able to do it. This option is not visible to me.
Just try to click Open Security Preferences, there, you should see the message “System software from developer ‘Tuxera Inc.’ was blocked from loading” and an Allow button, click the padlock with your admin password and click Allow.
I haven’t seen the message in System Preferences, and other people troubled with the same issue find it can be solved by running the Terminal command in macOS Recovery Mode. Here’s how:
- Boot your Mac into macOS Recovery Mode.
- Click Utilities from the top menu and choose Terminal.
- Type this command and press Enter:
chflags restricted '/Volumes/Macintosh HD/private/var/db/KernelExtensionManagement'
If there are no error messages, you can restart the Mac from the Apple menu and continue installing NTFS for Mac.
I have tried the above steps, but it doesn’t work, I found it worked after I downgraded macOS, but I want to keep my Mac updated to date, so I have downloaded another NTFS driver for Mac - iBoysoft NTFS for Mac, it works and I can use the NTFS drive on Mac without any problems.
