Trying to uninstall CCleaner on MacBook, but it feels like it’s haunting my system! I dragged it to Trash, but I keep finding random files/logs afterward.
Does anyone know how to completely nuke this thing? Free tools are preferred, but open to paid options. Thanks!
Hey there! I had the same struggle with CCleaner on my Mac. Here’s what worked for me:
- Drag the app to Trash (obvious, but do it first).
- Delete hidden leftovers: Open Finder > Go > Go to Folder > type ~/Library/Application Support/ and look for any CCleaner or Piriform folders. Trash them!
- Check ~/Library/Preferences/ and ~/Library/Caches/ for leftover files (search “ccleaner” or “piriform”).
Good luck to you.
Totally feel your pain! CCleaner leaves crumbs everywhere. Try this:
- Open Terminal and run sudo find / -name “ccleaner” (or “piriform”) to hunt down hidden files. Delete anything suspicious (BUT be careful with system files!).
- Check /Library/LaunchDaemons/ and /Library/LaunchAgents/ for any CCleaner-related .plist files.
Use CleanMyApp (Apple-trusted app). Its uninstaller scans everything, saving time and effort.
PS: If you’re not techy, stick to CleanMyApp~
Once downloaded, open it and click Grant Access, then tick CCleaner in the list. Next, click Uninstall > Continue uninstall.
Easy and convenient~
