I’m trying to uninstall MacCleaner from Mac, but it’s like a stubborn virus! I dragged it to Trash, but it still shows up in my Activity Monitor, and I keep finding random files. How do I completely obliterate this thing? Free methods preferred, but I’m desperate!
Ugh, MacCleaner is the WORST. Been there! Here’s what worked for me:
Grag the app to Trash.
If remnants linger, manually check these folders:
~/Library/Application Support/MacCleaner (delete this entire folder)
~/Library/Preferences/com.maccleaner.* (any files starting with this)
/Library/LaunchDaemons/ (look for .plist files tied to MacCleaner)
Reboot + empty Trash. Should be gone!
You can use CleanMyApp: Its uninstalling is bulletproof for leftovers.
All of the supporting files, cache files, status files, log files, preferences files, sandbox files, etc, can be removed at the same time.
After downloading, tick MacCleaner > Uninstall > Continue uninstall.
