Seagate SRD0SP0 1TB SSD is uninitialized on Mac after move from PC

I recently moved from a PC to my first Mac. I’m still learning how to utilize my MacBook Pro to its best potential. However, I’m attempting to connect my Seagate SRD0SP0 1TB HDD, which is meant to be compatible with Mac and PC operating systems without formatting. Nevertheless, it turns on normally when I connect it, but it appears in the disk utility with the message “Uninitialized”.

My Macbook Pro is running OS High Sierra 10.13.4. I want not to have to erase the vitally crucial data on this hard drive. I wonder if the data recovery tools I saw are viruses or how safe they are.

Have you connected it back to a PC and whether it is readable on the PC? If it only doesn’t work on your Mac, there could be some problems with the connection, all involved parts are the possible causes such as the USB cable, USB hub, and USB hub if you are using one. Besides, macOS system glitches could also be the issue.

I have reconnected it to my PC and it works fine. When I plug into My MacBook Pro, it remains uninitialized. Maybe I can back up the data first on a PC and reformat it for Mac? Which file format should I choose?

I suggest checking the connection first, to make sure it is correctly connected, the USB cable and the UBS port should be in good condition, and disconnect unnecessary peripherals. You can also try to First Aid the drive in Disk Utility. then, update disk drivers by updating the macOS.
If you decide to format the drive on Mac, you can choose exFAT and FAT32 to use it on both macOS and Windows platforms or select macOS-exclusive file systems such as APFS and Mac OS Extended.
