Hello, I tried moving 68 videos from the Photos app on my MacBook Air (macOS Big Sur) to an external SSD using Export > Export Originals. After deleting them from Photos and Recently Deleted, an error appeared saying 5 videos failed to export—only 63 were on the SSD.
I need help with:
How to recover the deleted videos. I’ve tried free versions of Disk Drill, Wondershare Recoverit, etc., but they don’t recover all files or show the original names.
Whether buying Disk Drill Pro is worth it, since I’m in Europe and worried it might not work.
I’m avoiding using the Mac normally to prevent overwriting the deleted files. MacBook Air is a 2017 model.
You’re right, stop using the MacBook to avoid overwriting the deleted files. The 5 missing videos are probably still on your Mac, just not in Photos. Have you enabled iCloud before? If you have, log in to icloud.com, click your user name, find the Data Recovery section, and check if you can find the lost 5 videos.
Disk Drill is not the best choice; I’ve used iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac. This tool lists the scanning results with original names, and it allows you to quickly browse the found files by type. It is easy and quick for us who need to recover deleted files.
