My Mac Can't Read Samsung SD Card! Help Me!

I wanted to transfer files from my 64GB Samsung SD card(almost full) to my MacBook. I did this action before and everything is good.

But this time I saw it was unreadable by the computer. How can I fix this issue without losing data?

Hey there,

Sounds frustrating! I‘ve dealt with similar issue that SD card can’t be readable before, maybe you can try:

  1. Double-check your SD card reader.
  2. Reinsert the SD card and restart your Mac.
  3. Use a different USB port.
  4. Try another Mac or PC.
  5. Check in Disk Utility again. Try Mount and First Aid once more.

If you get the error again, use Terminal to access the SD card:

  1. Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal.
  2. Enter diskutil list (Identify your SD card).
  3. Enter diskutil mountDisk /dev/diskX. (Replace diskX with your SD card’s identifier)

Good luck.

Hello, why not check the SD card format in Disk Utility? Some file formats cannot be readable by Mac. If the format appears as something unknown or NTFS(Microsoft introduced):
For NTFS, you’d better use some NTFS drives for Mac like iBoysoft NTFS for Mac, which can read and write NTFS-formatted SD card smoothly on Mac.
For other unknown/unsupported formats, consider backing up all data and then reformat it.

Reformatting an SD card means you will lose all, so using some tools to recover files on it is a top choice. iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac is a good choice, which can recover over 1000+ types of data.
