How to Retrieve Files on a Damaged MacBook Pro 2018?

Hi guys, my 2018 MacBook Pro just died from a water damage. About the enclosed SSD, I have the following questions: From my knowledge the SSD is encrypted by default, am I correct? If yes do you know any way to get back the data? I did already Google it without success, it seems that data can not be read externally. If I am not able to get back the data, at least can I re-format the SSD to use it with an enclosure? Do you have any USB-C/SSD enclosure to recommend? Cheers.

Water damage? How severe is your Mac damaged by water? I got my MacBook Pro wet on the keyboard months ago and immediately I shut down my computer, sopped up the keyboard with towel, left it dry on the windowsill. Two days later, I went to open it and it worked normally! So if your Mac is not severely damaged by water, you can try to let it dry up itself, then boot it up to access the files.

MacBook Pro 2018 is a special Mac model which comes with an Apple T2 security chip, moreover, its SSD is soldered with the motherboard, so you cannot take the SSD out for further storage purpose. As for the files you need, you can only get it from the backup you’ve made or cloud storage. If you have no backup stored in an external hard drive or online backup, then you lose them forever!

Feel sorry about your loss, but I’d like to emphasize the importance of backup greatly since which helps a lot when you suffer from data loss. 3-2-1 backup strategy is highly suggested here which backs up your files firmly and securely!
