How to Recover Permanently Deleted Videos on iPhone?

I mistakenly deleted some important videos from my iPhone and am desperately trying to retrieve them. I have tried several methods from online guides, but none of them have worked yet.

How can I restore the permanently deleted videos from an iPhone? Please help!

Modern iPhones use embedded NAND flash storage packaged in a chip to store data. Similar to SSDs on a Mac, it has a TRIM-like mechanism. Once a file is deleted, it usually goes through the following processes:

  • The file entry is removed from the file system.
  • The storage pages are marked as unused.
  • The OS informs the storage controller using a TRIM-like mechanism.
  1. The storage controller eventually erases those blocks during garbage collection.

Once the blocks are erased, the data is physically gone.

Recovery is sometimes possible before the flash blocks are erased.

Stop writing new data to your iPhone immediately! Then try the following methods:

Method 1: Check your Recently Deleted folder

Your deleted videos might still be available in the Recently Deleted folder on your iPhone. This folder retains deleted files for up to 30 days before they are permanently erased. Here’s how to check the Recently Deleted folder:

  1. Launch the Photos app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on the Albums tab at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Select the Recently Deleted folder.
  4. Search for the deleted videos and tap on them to select and recover.
  5. Hit the “Recover” button to restore the deleted videos from the Recently Deleted album.

Method 2: Restore from an iTunes or iCloud backup

If you have an iTunes or iCloud backup of your iPhone, you can revert your device to the most recent backup to retrieve permanently deleted videos on your iPhone. Follow these steps:

  1. Connect your iPhone to your computer or log into iCloud.
  2. Open iTunes or access your iCloud account.
  3. Choose your iPhone from the iTunes sidebar or click on “Restore iPhone” in iCloud.
  4. Follow the prompts to restore your iPhone to the previous backup.
  5. Once the process is done, your iPhone will contain the same data it had at the time of the backup.

Method 3: Use a data recovery tool
Find a reputable iPhone data recovery tool to scan your iPhone. It should allow you to scan for free and pay after the files are found and you decide to recover them.
