I found my Excel files missing on my MacBook Pro. I used to save them on my desktop. This morning, when I logged into my MBP, I couldn’t see them. Where are they? How can I restore them?
First, check whether your Desktop is synced with iCloud Drive.
On macOS, Desktop files can be moved automatically to iCloud, so open Finder, click iCloud Drive > Desktop to find your missing Excel files.
Also, try using Spotlight to search the file name.
If they’re not there, look in the Trash to see if you’ve accidentally deleted them.
Notably, check Time Machine if you have backups enabled. You can usually restore the files from there.
If the missing Excel files cannot be found with the common ways, try to let a data recovery tool to help you scan them.
You can use iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac, a professional data recovery tool, to scan your whole Mac. Then, the tool will list all the data it found. You can check the results by type to quickly find and recover your Excel files.
