How to Easily Uninstall Apps on Mac with All Associated Files?

I know there are third-party out there for app uninstalling, but I don’t want to give access to them. Who know whether they’ll access and collect my personal information.

I had an unfortunate experience uninstalling Disk Drill. After uninstalling it, the app icon still remain in the Dock. I then followed GPT’s instructions to remove it in Terminal. However, it still appears in Launchpad. So I had to reinstall the system.

Is there an easy way to fully uninstall apps on Mac?

If you don’t want to use third-party uninstallers, you can manually delete files related to the app. Apart from moving the app to the Trash, check the following directories for potential files to delete.

~/Library/Application Support

~/Library/Caches

~/Library/Logs

~/Library/Preferences

~/Library/Containers

~/Library/Cookies

You can press Command-Shift-G to open Go to Folder, then type in the folders above and look for files with the app name.

Some applications have a built-in uninstall button. You can find the Remove Disk Drill button in Disk Drill > Preferences >General.
