How to Deal With I Can't Upgrade MacBook to macOS Monterey with SSD?

My original Apple SSD in MacBook Pro failed to upgrade to macOS Monterey:

(1) I tried OpenCore Legacy Patcher: This tool reportedly enables Monterey installation on unsupported Macs. Does it update firmware in a way that would still require an Apple SSD, or does it circumvent that requirement entirely?

(2) I also tried Thunderbolt Target Disk Method: Some claim Monterey could be installed on a third-party SSD by connecting the Mac via Thunderbolt to another Mac with an Apple SSD, booting in Target Disk Mode, and directing the installer to the third-party drive. If this works, I’d need a Thunderbolt 3-to-2 adapter/cable compatible with a 2015 MacBook Pro.

Are these approaches realistic for bypassing the Apple SSD restriction?
