HELP! Can't Remove MacKeeper?

Installed MacKeeper by mistake and now my Mac is LAGGGING! Tried deleting it from Applications, but the icon WON’T DIE and ads keep popping up. SOS pls!

Hey, maybe you didn’t delete the leftovers together, and you only uninstalled the app itself.

For associated files, you can click Finder > Go > Go to Folder, then copy and paste these:
~/Library/Application Support/MacKeeper
~/Library/Application Support/com.mackeeper.MacKeeper
~/Library/Application Support/com.mackeeper.MacKeeperAgent
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.mackeeper.MacKeeperAgent.plist
~/Library/Caches/com.mackeeper.MacKeeper
~/Library/Caches/com.mackeeper.MacKeeperAgent
Right-click them and choose Move to Trash. Then remember to empty Trash.

To completely uninstall MacKeeper on Mac:

  1. Use their OWN uninstaller (ironic, right?) → Download “MacKeeper Uninstall” from their site.
  2. MANUAL cleanup:
    Cmd+Shift+G → Type ~/Library/
    Nuke EVERYTHING named “MacKeeper” in:
    LaunchAgents, Application Support, Caches, Preferences
  3. Use Terminal. Type sudo rm -rf /Applications/MacKeeper.app/ and press the Enter key.

For deleting the app and the leftovers at once, you’re highly recommended to utilize CleanMyApp.

  1. Download and open it.
  2. Click Grant Access.
  3. Tick MacKeeper in the list, and click Uninstall > Continue uninstall.
