Firmware Update 2.6 Not Compatible with MacBook mid-2012

I’m trying to install Windows 7 or 10 on a mid-2012 MacBook Air that was given to me some time ago. But when I restart after the second part of the setup, Windows boots to a black screen.

I read that Firmware update 2.6 resolved an issue with Windows that can prevent MacBook Air from booting properly. So I decided to install it.

However, when I tried to open the installer, I received a message saying that the system doesn’t support this software.

How can I fix this issue?

The Firmware update 2.6 you mentioned is for OS X 10.8.2. What macOS version is your Mac running?

I’m running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6.

There you go. It doesn’t make sense for a Mac running macOS 10.13.6 to install an update for the old OS X 10.8.2.

Your Mac should have already installed the firmware update.

You may have made some mistakes when installing Windows on the Boot Camp partition. Remove the Boot Camp partition and follow the guide below to create it again.
