Recently, I got Windows 10 on my MacBook Pro via Boot Camp. But the Windows partition isn’t big enough, so I want to remove it and start again with more space. Unfortunately, I can’t get rid of the Windows 10 partition due to an error reading “Boot Camp Assistant was unable to verify if the Windows partition contains a Windows installation. This may be because BitLocker is enabled on the partition. If so, disable BitLocker on the disk before removing Boot Camp.” If any of you know how I can remove the Windows partition, please help!
If you can’t remove the Windows partition within Boot Camp Assistant, erase it in Terminal and then retry:
-
First, open the Terminal app from your Applications folder.
-
Then run the command below to check the disk identifier of the Windows partition.
diskutil list -
Here, you should see all disks connected to your Mac, including the Windows partition. Note down its identifier, for example, disk0s3.
-
Replace the disk_identifier in the command below to erase the Windows Boot Camp partition.
diskutil eraseVolume fat32 BOOTCAMP disk_identifier -
After the partition is erased, open Boot Camp to remove the Windows partition again.
