I hate apps’ toughness!!! I have removed one app from my Mac, but one day I find its leftover files are still on my hard drive!!! That’s super annoying! Why does this app not take its associated file away? Is it a stalkware??? How can I remove them completely???
The app developer always leaves some tough data on your hard drive to attract your next install, so you will find there are leftovers remaining. Facing this, you have to remove its associated files hiding in different folders by yourself:
You can find its related files in the following file path:
- Binary and dock icons are located in /Applications/
- Application support files are located in ~/Library/Application Support
- Support Caches can be found in /Library/Caches/ and ~/Library/Caches
- Plugins are located in ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
- Library can be found in ~/Library/
- App preferences are located in ~/Library/Preferences/
- Crashes are found in ~/Library/Application Support/CrashReporter/
- App saved states are located in ~/Library/Saved Application State/
Then, there won’t be any associated files on your Mac hard drive any longer!
Actually, the app developers are used to leaving some file leftovers like caches, support files, preferences, system logs, packages, launch helpers, etc. on your machine to attract you to install next time. The simple Move to Trash feature only removes the app, which failed to reach out to its related files. To completely remove an app, I’d like to recommend iBoysoft MagicMenu as it works on my machine for a long time. It uninstalls apps neatly and effectively along with removing all of their related files from the Mac hard drive.
Step 1: Install iBoysoft MagicMenu on your Mac.
Step 2: Launch this handy app uninstaller and search Uninstall in its main window to have a download. Note that iBoysoft MagicMenu only takes a little space and so does the Uninstall function, which nearly does not influence your Mac.
Step 3: Go to Finder > Applications, locate the app you want to remove, then right-click it to select Uninstall from the dropdown menu.
Step 4: Wait for this professional app remover to gather all associated files of the will-be-uninstalled app. Once it finishes, check the useless files to let them be removed along with the app.
Step 5: Click Uninstall to confirm your actions and initiate the uninstall progress. This progress may take up to several seconds.
On top of the uninstall feature, iBoysoft MagicMenu, as a brilliant right-click enhancer on Mac, also allows you to cut & paste files, create a new file, move/copy to, quick access an item, compress files, find duplicates, convert images, analyze space, capture screen, record screen. etc within a few clicks. I bet you will be satisfied with it once you experience this handy toolkit on your Mac!
