I'm trying to connect to my 4TB APFS encrypted external disk to iPad. It will successfully mount to the device; however, when I try to unlock its encryption, it will not take my password and will repeatedly inform me that it is incorrect. I am certain that I am typing the proper password. I can mount it on several Macs and enter the right password each time. In addition, I double-checked my Keychain Access. I've heard that the iPad should mount APFS (encrypted). What's going on?
Hi there, as you mentioned that Macs can mount the external hard drive and accept the password properly, why don't you unlock the encryption of it on your Macs instead? Moreover, iPadOS should allow an APFS-encrypted device to be accessed from the native Files App. The encrypted drive should be visible in the sidebar.
