Deleting files not clearing space on MacBook Pro

I moved about 250GB of raw images from my MacBook Pro to an old MBP running macOS High Sierra. The old one is not updated to maintain compatibility with 32-bit apps. The file transfer is supposed to free up 250GB of space on my Mac but it hasn't done any. In Finder, my Pictures folder is still nearly 700GB, like no files have been removed, although the moved files are not visible. I've tried to repair my Mac and boot into Safe Mode several times, but all to no avail. Please help!

How did you move the files? If you copied the files to an external drive first and then deleted them from your Mac, you must empty the Trash with the external drive connected to reclaim the space.

If that's not the case, or if emptying the Trash doesn't free up space, use iBoysoft DiskGeeker to check the files on your Mac. With a scan, it can discover all files on your Mac, including hidden ones, and display them in descending order by size. This way, you can check whether the files are actually deleted and efficiently remove other unnecessary files that are cluttering your Mac.
