Hi there, I'm glad to tell you that the LaCie external hard drive works fine on your MacBook Air Retina 2020 because I have run a LaCie hard drive on my Mac device for one year, though different from your Mac model.

LaCie hard drive performs excellently in the hard drive market all along. It endeavors to provide world-class storage solutions for photographers, videographers, audio professionals, and other power users. Taking pride in its unique and fashionable design, LaCie's external hard drive reads with a speed of 130.9MB/s and writes with a speed of 133.6MB/s via a USB 3. 0 port based on Benchmarks's test.

Literally, it's a nice choice for backup work and you can rest assured to use it. However, because all drives have failed or will fail, it is recommended that you back up your files and data on a regular basis.
