SanDisk SD card not recognized on macOS Monterey, Help!

I’m trying to read the photos and videos on a SanDisk SD card from my camera but it’s not recognized on my Mac. The SD card can still keep pictures when used on the camera, so I don’t think it’s damaged. Why is it not detected on the Mac? Can someone help me? BTW, the SD card is connected to the Mac through the built-in SD card slot.

Try updating your Mac. A certain bug on your current macOS version may be preventing your SD card from being recognized on Mac. Go to System Preferences > Software Update and check if there’s a new update available. If it is, go ahead and install the update.

What do you mean by saying “not recognized”? I suggest you open Disk Utility and see whether your SD card is detected by the operating system or not. If it shows up in Disk Utility, then it is recognized by your Mac. However, it’s likely not mounted. In this case, the SD card will appear grayed out.

If that’s what happens, you should work towards getting it mounted. For example, repair it with First Aid or reformat it.

One thing to remember is you must recover the files on the SD card before formatting it because the process will remove all data.

If you don’t have a specific data recovery tool in mind, try iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac. It’s safe and reliable.
